A downloadable game for Windows

The Dodger is a fast-paced arcade driving prototype inspired by classic games like Road Fighter. Dodge oncoming traffic, manage your fuel, and survive as long as possible as the road scrolls endlessly beneath your wheels. Built in Java as a compact prototype, the game focuses on tight controls, score chasing, and old-school arcade vibes.

Controls:

  • A / D — Move left / right
  • Space — Start the game
  • P — Pause / Resume
  • R — Restart after crash

This is a small prototype and learning project inspired by classic arcade racers. It’s not meant to be a full game (yet), but rather a focused experiment in game loops, collision handling, and arcade-style progression.

Install instructions

  • The game is provided as a runnable .jar file
  • Java 8 or newer is required to run the game
  • Download the JAR file to your computer
  • Try double-clicking the file to launch it
  • If it doesn’t start, open a terminal or command prompt in the file’s folder and run:java -jar dodger.jar
  • Security warnings for unsigned JAR files are normal - choose Run anyway
  • No installation is required
  • Works on Windows, macOS, and Linux
